Rolling Stones-Honky Tonk Woman

I met a gin soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis, She tried to take me upstairs for a ride. She had to heave me right across her shoulder Cause I just cant seem to drink you off my mind. Its the honky tonk women Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues. I laid a divorcee in New York City, I had to put up some kind of a fight. The lady then she covered me with roses, She blew my nose and then she blew my mind. Its the honky tonk women Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues. Its the honky tonk women. Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues. Its the honky tonk women. Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues

Mick Jagger – Hard Woman (album version)

Shes a hard woman to please And I thought about letting her know Shes a hard lady to leave and I thought about letting her go Shes a tough lady to leave But, I thought about it Shes a hard lady to please, yes she is I gave her laughter, she wanted diamonds I was romantic, she treated my cruelly Where is the mercy, where is the love? You see, passion has a funny way Of burning down and running low And suddenly it goes out And you wonder where does it go Shes a hard woman to please Ive thought about letting her know Shes a hard lady to leave, yes she is I gave her laughter, she wanted diamonds She was unfaithful, treated me cruelly Where is the mercy, where is the love? Im alone at last; something inside of me knows I could have loved in vain For a thousand years I have to let her go Ive got to let her go Ive got to say goodbye How can I say goodbye to my baby? Shes a tough cookie, hard lady Ive got to say goodbye Alone at last and something inside of me knows I could have loved in vain for a thousand years I have to let her go And time goes so fast and new love starts so slow I could have loved in wain for a thousand years I have to let her go Ive got to let her go Ive got to say goodbye Hard woman to please, yes you are Hard woman, tough lady, Ive got to, Ive got to say goodbye. How can I say goodbye to my baby? How can I say goodbye to my baby? So long honey.

Honky Tonk Blues – The Rolling Stones note for note cover – by GC

SONG FACTS: Keith Richards notes: "Honky Tonk Women" started in Brazil. Mick and I, Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg who was pregnant with my son at the time. Which didnt stop us going off to the Mato Grasso and living on this ranch. Its all cowboys. Its all horses and spurs. And Mick and I were sitting on the porch of this ranch house and I started to play, basically fooling around with an old Hank Williams idea. And then couple of months later we were writing songs and recording. And somehow by some metamorphosis it suddenly went into this little swampy, black thing, a Blues thing. Really, I cant give you a credible reason of how it turned around from that to that. Except theres not really a lot of difference between white Country music and black Country music. Its just a matter of nuance and style. I think it has to do with the fact that we were playing a lot around with open tunings at the time. So we were trying songs out just to see if they could be played in open tuning. And that one just sunk in." Lead guitarist Brian Jones was a founding member of the group and was considered their leader in their early years. Unfortunately, drug abuse made him pretty much worthless, and when The Stones finished recording this on June 8, 1969, they drove to his house and fired him. This was released July 3, 1969, the same day Jones was found dead in his swimming pool. Mick Taylor had taken over for Brian Jones on lead guitar, and this was his first appearance on a <b>…<b>
