The Rolling Stones – Brown Sugar/Black Women Tribute

"Brown Sugar", written and performed by the Rolling Stones on their mega-successful classic 1971 album "Sticky Fingers" is one of my all-time favorite songs. This song was controversial back in the early 70s because of the "sensitive" content in the lyrics. Only the Rolling Stones would come out with a song like this back then. You might wonder: why have a tribute to Black Women exactly? My reason is simple: because how often in our society do you ever see Black women being praised or celebrated? Very rarely, and it has always been that way too. This isnt new news or anything. Therefore, I figured why not do something that actually does celebrate Black women for a change. So here is my tribute video to the song accompanied by various pictures of some of my favorite black women ever to grace this earth. Lyrics: "Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields Sold in a market down in New Orleans Scarred old slaver know hes doin alright Hear him whip the women just around midnight Brown sugar, how come you taste so good? Brown sugar, just like a young girl should Drums beating, cold English blood runs hot Lady of the house wonderin where its gonna stop House boy knows that hes doin alright You should a heard him just around midnight Brown sugar, how come you taste so good? Brown sugar, just like a young girl should Aaaaah brown sugar, how come you taste so good? Aaaaah brown sugar, just like a black girl should I bet your mama was a tent show queen And all her boyfriends <b>…<b>

THE ROLLING STONES – Brown Sugar (Live)

The sheer scale of The Stones back catalogue means they are probably the only band around who can open with one of their best known hits and it not make the rest of the show an anticlimax, because they have so many hits available to them. So this was the opener to their stadium show, live at Twickenham in London, during 2003 on the Live Licks tour subsequently released as part of the Four Flicks DVD. Brown Sugar Movie Trailer

The trailer of a great movie. I remember the exact day I fell in love with Hip Hop. (…). Little did I know how much Hip Hop would be a part of my life. (…). Hip hop was as young, naive… confused… sometimes innocent, and sometimes as mischievious as I was. And as I grew up, Hip Hop grew with me… and along the way it took on all my baggage, my dreams… I felt Hip Hop and Hip Hop felt me. And I know that everyone who loves the music feels the same way I do. For many people Hip Hop was that first friend… the first to talk to us, the first to understand. Hip Hop has always been that kind of friend to me. And like any relationship… I watched it grow, I watched it change. The union of Hip Hop to the mainstream… was a hard thing to imagine. Hip Hop was always this personal regional thing that belonged to just me. Starting with "Fab 5 Freddie" and Yo! MTV Raps! Anyone with a television set and cable box could get a piece of hip hop. I knew I was gonna have to share… and that was hard to get used to. Just when you think you know everything there is to know about Hip Hop, it finds a way to surprise you… and remind you why you fell in love in the first place. So what is the difference between "Rap" and Hip Hop? Its simple… Its like the difference between saying you love somebody… and being in love with somebody. "Rap" is just a word! I always thought… One day I would outgrow my relationship with Hip Hop. I never thought it was a "fad" like many, but I never <b>…<b>
