  1. Yes 10 strings, to correspond to the 5-string set-up he has on regular (6-string) guitar. The A string is lowest, tuned to a G (and the rest of the strings open G).

  2. the jerking back his arm and shoulder, I think he’s been doing for years. (Look at the performance of "You Can’t Always Get What You Want" from the Stones 81-82 tour for example). But the two fingers-gesture I think is to mark the counting
