I was born & raised in NYC and I am a die hard Yankee fan! (I was actually named after Mariano Rivera LOL!) anyway, what bothers me more than non-yankee fans are FAKE yankee fans! I’m talking about these celebs who rep the yankee symbol hat (Justin Bieber & others) and if you go ask them who their favorite player is they will give some answer like Derek Jeter or A-Rod because A) Those are the only famous ones B) they don’t other players names C) THEY ARE FAKE YANKEE FANS!
This pisses me off so much. I’m not saying you gotta know everyone on the team or anything, but you are reaping the symbol and putting the yankees into song lyrics! Come on!
And silly little teenage girls (I mean i’m one too lol but I’m a real fan) who think they are really cool because they have a yankee hat like Justin Bieber or Jay-Z.

@Tylor – I agree! I am a Yankee/Jets fan, I do NOT like the mets one bit & I do root against them during games they play (I know, I should root for them for NY spirit & all but whatever. lol!) But I did root for the Giants during the Super Bowl even though I am a die hard Jet. I didn’t pose, people asked me which team (Or better they TOLD me which team LOL) and I always said “I’m a Jets fan at heart, but the Giants are my team today” or something along those lines.
@sarrfreze – that is not at all what I am saying. I’m talking about people who claim to be die-hards & people who wear yankee hats and act like they know everything about them. I am not talking about the people who go to a game to have fun, or watch them or for whatever reason. I know there are people who don;t understand it but just want to have a good time or whatever, I see no problem with that. But the people who constantly wear the Yankee symbol & know nothing about the team or anything about baseball for that matter are clearly just doing it for the label.
