Philadelphia: 1985, Live Aid On July 13, 1985, the eyes – and ears – of the world were on London and Philadelphia. Live Aid, a rock music concert performed simultaneously on three continents (including Australia), was organized by musician Bob Geldof for famine relief in Ethiopia. The 15-hour Philadelphia concert, held at JFK Stadium and attended by an estimated 99000 people, featured a number of big acts, including Madonna, Tom Petty, Duran Duran, Led Zeppelin, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Teddy Pendergrass, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne.
